Studio Policies and Guidelines

5B Music Company is committed to creating a positive learning and teaching environment for its students and staff.  For this reason, it is important that all students and parents understand and abide by the studio policies as outlined below.

Registration

5B Music Company accepts music students of all ages and abilities based on availability year-round.  New students may register online, by phone (208) 928-4213 or in person at the store. Generally, the first lesson given to a new student is free of charge so that one of our teachers can assess the skill and ability of the student. The teacher will work with you to find a time slot that works best for your schedule. We offer 30 min, 45 min and 60 min lessons.

Payments

Lesson payments are due at the time of service or prior to lessons being given. Additionally, students may purchase blocks of lesson and prepay their account. The Music Studio software can be used to make payments and allows students/parents to track their prepaid balance. Blocks should be renewed when there is a zero balance in the account.

A $20 late fee per month will be applied to past due accounts.  In the case of non-payment, lessons might be suspended until the account is brought current.

*We ask that students wishing to discontinue lessons give the studio a minimum notice of two lessons.  Any lessons paid beyond that will be posted to student’s account.

Missed Lessons

Consistency and commitment are the keys to developing and mastering any pursuit, including music.  Therefore, students are encouraged to attend every lesson in order to advance their skills.  If a student must miss a lesson, we ask that you please call the studio a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the lesson day that will be missed whenever possible.  We do not issue refunds for missed lessons and missed lessons are not made up.  While students are responsible for lessons missed, each student is entitled to one excused absence credit once per month. While we realize that illness and emergencies occur, should a student need to miss more than one consecutive lesson, please contact us at the studio so that we can adjust the schedule.

If your teacher is absent, a substitute may replace her/him for that week to maintain consistency for the student.  There are no credits for lessons missed if a substitute has been provided.  Students will not be charged for studio holidays or teacher absences if we are unable to provide a substitute.  

Summer Lessons

Students are highly encouraged by their teachers to continue lessons throughout the summer months to maintain their level of proficiency.  Students who stop, find they are spending a month or two in the fall catching up to where they left off at the start of the summer.  Lessons will continue as regularly scheduled from June to August. We realize that vacations and trips will occur; we ask that you contact us, in advance, should your child need to miss their weekly lesson.

Weather Cancellations

5B Music Company will make decisions, regarding the weather, the day of the lesson.  In the event of weather, the decision regarding lesson cancellation will be made no later than 12 noon of lesson day. Notification will be emailed and/or texted to students as well as posted on the home page of our student portal: 5B Music Company
